Gen Re Actuarial Course Shanghai

Gen Re Life/Health Actuarial Course (GRAC) addresses the needs of actuaries with varying years of experience. This five-day programme offers ample opportunity to learn from Gen Re‘s comprehensive knowledge base. It also provides a platform for the participants to exchange ideas and to raise questions. GRAC was first held in Shanghai, China in 2000. It has been well-received by the participants from various locations within the Asia region including China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan.

In addition to the seminar in Shanghai, GRAC is also held annually in Cologne, Germany.

At GRAC, you will be given an ideal opportunity to learn from Gen Re professionals and fellow practitioners on:

  • Traditional and non-traditional insurance products such as health, dread disease, long term care and group insurance
  • Modern actuarial techniques to manage the risks inherent when writing life insurance business, such as asset liability management
  • Reinsurance and the financial profile of life insurance

Over the course of the five days, participants will also have the opportunity to participate in the PRimary Insurance Management Exercise (PRIME). PRIME is a computer-assisted learning exercise, which demonstrates some of the decision-making processes involved in operating an insurance company. Participants role-play being part of a company's senior management team in a marketplace created by other teams participating in the exercise.
